Shell offers free wireless broadband to truckers in cooperation with The Cloud and Route 45
13 April 2010
Shell launch a free wireless broadband Internet service, to meet the rapidly growing demand from truckers, in cooperation with The Cloud - the leading independent wireless Internet provider in Europe, and Route 45 - a leading Danish roadside diner.
The truckers of the 21st century have for a long time been in the forefront of adapting and using wireless services on the road. This has increased business efficiency and taken the private social situation for the truckers to a new level. As a consequence the demand for wireless broadband along the roads of Europe has risen rapidly in recent years.
Claus Skipper, CRT Sales Manager in Shell Transport Service: "Shell aspires to offer the best service proposition for truckers in the market. Offering free wireless Internet access to our customers is important for us in order to provide a full service package during the hours the drivers need to have their self chosen or mandatory rest."
He continues: "The demand for wireless services has, with the increased number of enabled devices and Smartphone's in the market, gone from being a concern only for airports, hotels and coffee shops, to be important for all high footfall venues."
The roadside diner Route 45 is located in the middle of the biggest transport service center in northern part of Europe and has already received a positive response from customers, resulting in a positive impact on the business; "Launching the free wireless Internet service has already improved customer loyalty and increased the average revenue per customer. We are a OneStop service center where truckers can benefit from all of our services which includes Shell, workshop, wash station, bathing facilities, Kiosk, arcade, road tax, and of cause Wi-Fi", says Ole Gottlieb, General Manager at Route 45.
He continues: "As the demand for wireless services rise, the importance to find the right partnerships increases. Not meeting customer and legal requirements will have a negative effect on the business."
Rasmus Erlandsen, Sales Director Retail at The Cloud Nordic; "We are proud to provide free wireless services in cooperation with Shell and Route 45, and that they share our view on the importance to offer high quality, easy to use, independent services to everyone."
