Pub joins the Cloud bandwagon

17 September 2009

10,000+ pub estates seeking cloud services

CEO Comments…

The Cloud back in 2003 was formed around the delivery of WiFi services housed neatly into games machines typically installed in smokey bars where the guys would pit their wits against the machine – such services still prevail today albeit with the many changes that are impacting the pubs industry, notably the smoking ban and ever increasing taxes on alcohol, plus the advent of cheap alcohol from supermarkets, we have seen the world of local pub transforming from a smoky male dominated bar into leisure locations catering for the family, themed restaurants delivering outstanding food and increasingly locations attractive to business travelers seeking a WiFi connections to send emails or mums looking to sit down and chat with friends over a cup of coffee.

The Cloud has  contracts with a whole host of pub chains and brewers working closely with the industry to seek ways to encourage more people through their doors – be it the business traveler, the housewife, mum or family looking for a great meal at the weekend or whilst traveling / on vacation.

“We are developing free services that enable people to locate pubs where The Cloud delivers services such as FastConnect software enabling easy and fast Internet access plus a really simple though useful alert service designed to tell the publicans customers which pub they are in will hopefully help increase the numbers of people in the pub buying the landlords drink and produce”

“We suspect approaching 50% of our connections will be over hand held devices by 2011 and we have seen a dramatic increase in the number of handheld connections during 2009 as more and more smart phone users recognise the only reliable Internet connection is via WiFi”
