The Role

CHIEF COMMERCIAL OFFICER

The Cloud is Europe’s leading independent public access WiFi service provider with operations covering 10 European countries – with over 10,000 venues delivering WiFi over c25,000 access points.

The strategy is to transform the business into the leading independent European mobile wireless broadband provider via a highly competitive business model focused on both wholesale and retail distribution channels.

The Cloud is seeking to recruit an experienced commercial executive who will report directly to the Group Chief Executive, taking responsibility for the development of the retail product and all associated business development initiatives to execute the Group strategy.

The successful candidate will have proven international credentials, outstanding senior management communication skills, a detailed understanding of the mobile industry and importantly the delivery of media and content over mobile devices.

Core Responsibilities:

This is a Pan European role requiring a person with proven international expertise – the role naturally involves a clear commitment to international travel and the pursuance of key international commercial relationships with Global / European vendors, customers, partners and service providers.

The successful candidate will have a strong commercial and marketing background with a detailed understanding of the media industry and the delivery of that media over mobile devices using standard Internet streaming technologies.

The role is hands on with a clear strategic responsibility complemented by the day to day cut and thrust of empowering and enabling the countries to execute strategy dependent on market circumstance

Retail Product Development

The mobile industry has thus far failed to capture the imagination of the mass market – failing to entice them to adopt mobile Internet given the complexity of connectivity, the poor user interface and the weak customer experience given networks are too slow to download images or materials in an acceptable timeframe.

The Cloud has a clearly defined strategy that uses WiFi as the medium to deliver a full audio video experience, over all devices, structured around free access through high footfall consumer public locations and the delivery of streamed media to differentiate The Cloud experience.

The CCO will take direct responsibility for the definition, implementation and execution of the retail product strategy and the development of the service experience and all associated distribution channels to drive market awareness and customer adoption.

Distribution Channels:

The Cloud delivers its services through both retail and wholesale channels with initiatives to develop new distribution channels through media, content and device centric distribution.

The management and development of these channels, to support the establishment of retail distribution country by country, is a fundamental requirement.

Customer Experience:

The Cloud relationship with its customers is critical to its success - responsibility for the customers end to end experience, internationally, on line and through a small dedicated or outsourced service centre, our overall strategy, communications, interfaces and the responsiveness of The Cloud to customer requirements is a core component of the group strategy and the responsibility of the CCO.

Output / Deliverables:

  • Create and implement the overall marketing strategy in consultation with partners, and senior business management
  • Establish a unique high quality and powerful brand identity in the marketplace.
  • Shape the commercial agenda of the business through the analysis of market data / observations of market trends and feedback from commercial partners and industry opinion formers
  • Build relationships with influential manufacturers of devices and providers of compelling content and media services generating revenues, building sustainable and lasting relationships
  • Lead the development of the customer’s mobile experience presenting our channel partners with a compelling marketing proposition
  • Lead and develop the customer’s interface with the Cloud spanning service delivery and the highest quality customer care.  Design and manage a web based support system that supports the business model providing timely response and ease of use.
  • Prepared & manage the overall marketing & group commercial budget
The Person

Characteristics / Attributes / Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 15 years International experience covering though not exclusive to:
  1. The mobile industry
  2. The delivery & monitisation of media and content electronically
  • Proven credentials in the creation, management and execution of multi jurisdiction business strategies
  • Expertise in and experience of either / all consumer, business and wholesale distribution channels
  • Demonstrable international people skills – building teams & influencing internal and external key decision makers

Director of Business Development (Wholesale)

The Role

Working within our Wholesale Business area, we now require a  high caliber strategically focused Business Development Director who will take the lead in acquiring and developing partnerships with telecoms carriers and mobile operators in Europe and then globally.  The individual will grasp the big picture requirements of the business – understanding customer requirements and selling in Cloud propositions.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • To develop and own relationships with carriers and other potential wholesale partners of The Cloud with the objective of selling and developing partnerships to deliver financial and strategic value to The Cloud.  Combination of new business development and account management.  Role will carry a revenue-based sales target as well as objectives around relationship building with the major target organizations
  • Quickly gain acceptance with the country teams and customers as a strong, professional commercial leader who can provide clear, focused and inspired leadership for the business across markets and geographies
  • Initiate and drive board level relationships within global operators, developing greenfield opportunities, developing business cases and selling The Cloud’s propositions
  • Negotiate and close major commercial agreements with wholesale partners.
The Person

You will have a business development background with a deep understanding of the business needs of carriers and mobile operators. We visualise a person joining the business who has experience selling solutions into these sectors, and ideally having worked in a carrier or mobile operator environment.

Background & Profile:

  • Strong strategic commercial management experience (focused on developing and closing major sales opportunities with the flexibility to switch to a business development or consulting mode as appropriate)
  • The ability to initiate, develop and manage multi-layered relationships within large corporate clients and establish oneself as a “trusted advisor” as well as a partner rather than an “order taker” or a supplier
  • Experience of selling in the European telecoms sector with the responsibility to engage with key decision makers within the mobile and carrier industry
  • Successful sales responsibility within a fast-growth business and / or in a quarterly earnings driven organisation, within the telecoms/ media industry
  • Significant experience working in the ISP/mobile/telecommunications industry
  • Demonstrable experience in a strategic business development role, ideally selling to carriers and mobile operators
  • European sales experience
  • Fluency in more than one European language an advantage
  • Exposure to fast growth, high pressure environments with a focus on delivery

The Person

You will need to be highly self-motivated with strong project management experience throughout the entire project lifecycle, especially with financial systems implementation. This will be a very visual project throughout the business, so it is important that you have excellent communication skills and have proven expertise in delivering to time and in budget in a pressurized environment.

Ideally you will come from a financial/accounting background with previous experience of Dynamics NAV (Navision) software and exposure to Microsoft Analysis and Reporting Server/Data Cubes. You will have proven experience of successful financial systems implementation and integration across a group.

The Role

The Role

We have a new opening for an experienced hands-on QA Manager to oversee the group’s quality assurance function at The Cloud and strive it towards meeting prescribed quality goals. Responsible for managing a small team of QA Analysts, you will provide guidance and leadership to the development and enhancement of this department.

Your role will include development and delivery of an automated testing framework; project plans; and documentation of QA processes, test methodology and project statuses. Whilst the role requires people management skills and experience, you will still be working in a hands-on technical capacity supporting the team where required.

The Person

Ideally you will be degree qualified in an engineering related discipline with previous experience working within an ISP/WLAN environment.
